#35401 Database search

Posted by lwyau on 09 November 2010 - 02:34 PM

The problem you have is that the table search uses "space" character as the delimiter for multiple keywords.

To change the delimiter from "space" to "comma":

1. Go to sohoadmin > file manger and look for the file "udt-search_xxxxxxxx.inc", where "xxxxxxxx" is the name you assigned to the table search when you created it. This is the script for the search.
2. Look for this line:
$tmp = split(" ", $KEY_SEARCH_FOR);

and change it to:
$tmp = split(",", $KEY_SEARCH_FOR);

Note there may be multiple occurrences of this line. Change them all.
3. For a good measure, inform your visitors by changing this line:
$USER_FORM .= "<B>$SEARCH_COUNT. <U>Search by Keyword</U>: </B> <FONT COLOR=#999999>(Separate multiple keywords by spaces)</FONT><BR><FONT STYLE='font-size: 7pt;'>[ $keydisplay ]</FONT></B><BR><BR>\n";

$USER_FORM .= "<B>$SEARCH_COUNT. <U>Search by Keyword</U>: </B> <FONT COLOR=#999999>(Separate multiple keywords by commas)</FONT><BR><FONT STYLE='font-size: 7pt;'>[ $keydisplay ]</FONT></B><BR><BR>\n";

4. Upload the modified file via sohoadmin > file manager. Always make a backup copy just in case.

#33477 Upload .csv file to database

Was the table created BEFORE you import the .csv file? If not, add a dummy record first. You can always delete it after importing.

#29489 Swap out your template header text for a logo image

Posted by lwyau on 10 July 2009 - 01:54 PM

The following steps outlined in the document you mentioned do not involve HTML knowledge per se:

1. Download the index.html file from your template folder
2. Find (ctrl+f) "#LOGO#"
3. Replace it with "#LOGOIMG#"
4. Save the file and upload it back to your template folder

All we are doing is simply replace a soho pound variable #LOGO# ( logo text) to another #LOGOIMG# (logo image) in the "index.html" file. Yes it is HTML code, but these steps do not call for any HTML skills.

#27716 Check for an existing submission/record

Posted by lwyau on 27 March 2009 - 12:55 PM

Here is the sample code:

$sql = "select * from UDT_submitted where username = '".$SOHO_AUTH."' limit 1";
$result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error());
if (mysql_num_rows($result)) {

You are on your own to test and debug it :)

#25078 turn off form auto-reply

Posted by lwyau on 21 November 2008 - 11:41 PM

The field name "emailaddr" is a reserve word for soho to trigger auto-respond email. Rename it to something else will stop it.

Make sure you change it in the hidden "required_fields" as well.

#21351 How do i get a newsletter autoresponder to the person who signed up?

Posted by lwyau on 29 June 2008 - 05:48 PM

This manual page explains the auto-responder file: http://manual.sohola...p=&lang=english.

Also, you want to make sure the email address field has a field type of "email", not "text". Otherwise, no auto-responder email will be sent.

#15543 Odd date showing in Template

Posted by lwyau on 09 January 2008 - 06:54 PM

The template contains the #BOX1# tag, which is supposed to pull information from a particular blog subject that you manage in sohoadmin > template manager > template boxes. The old date is the manifestation of the lack of the blog association. Setup a blog subject (news, promotions, or whatever), enter an entry, and associate the box to the blog subject to see.

#14653 Batch create numerous pages

Posted by lwyau on 05 December 2007 - 06:57 PM

Using individual pages was going to allow me to more finely tune the page properties for google adsense. Theres no way to change those on the fly with database content is there?

The only thing important other than the page content itself is the title tag. It used to be the case where I could make a <title> tag anyway I wanted with a simple script in the template. Unfortunately soho somehow decided to hardcode page title from site_pages table and ignores the <title> tag in the template file. You will have to customize pgm-realtime_builder.php module to rid of the hard-coded <title> tag from page title.

What kind of error did you get?

#13944 How to edit templates ?

Posted by lwyau on 12 November 2007 - 03:01 PM

This particular template does not provide much customization other than the logo text.

You can, of course, modify the template file and its component found here: sohoadmin/program/modules/site_templates/pages/ANIMALS-Hi_Lil_Fella-Blue/index.html.

The dog image is hdr-left.jpg. Replacing the dog is actually a little involved because you need to preserve the background and the dimension. Be prepared to do some photoshop work :)

#10922 v5.9.2 r5 & r6 not working things

Posted by lwyau on 15 June 2007 - 05:18 PM

I can't creat a Security Code /Group in Member Logins - interestingly enough I can create authorized users and they can access the " restricted area' change their password etc., but I can't creat any Groups Would really like some help in getting this working.

I just tried it on v4.9.2 r5 and did not have problem adding security codes. Go to sohoadmin > database table manager and take a look at sec_code table. This is such a simple table with prikey and security_code fields.

Anyone know if you can make images move on the screen and repeat themselves

There are many ways of implemeting this. You can try the <marquee> html tag like this:
<img src="...."><img src="..."><img ...><img ...>

#10320 I see edges/shadow after placing objects on page

Posted by lwyau on 19 May 2007 - 02:55 PM

The custom.css of the template contains numerous "border-bottom:" specifications which cause the bottom "edges" on paragraphs and other places.

#9406 Identical Vertical Menu

Posted by lwyau on 27 March 2007 - 04:32 AM

Yes you cannot have the same database associated with two soho installalations. For example, the menu problem you have is the direct result of sharing the site_pages table.

Create a separate MySQL database and change the following file for one of your soho sites:

Adjust the following three parameters:

db_name (database name)
db_un (database username)
db_pw (database password)

If you use IE7, do the following to see if it fixes the problem:

Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level > Active X Controls; Allow Scriptlets

#8139 Google Maps in soholaunch ?

Posted by lwyau on 23 January 2007 - 12:46 AM

First stick the following between <head> and </head> (and as GuardianHost said, you need to acquire the key from Google for the domain, and you will have to figure out the coordinates by going to http://geocoder.us/) in your template.

<script src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2&key=ABQIAAAAr7MoD4o1rkQchakV6m6c2BSLR86Z5WxY_psjZ3atUXnF3PwiAxQwU95QK3_dq6fcuAxYhMhTGWLKFA" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function load() {
if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) {
var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map"));
map.addControl(new GSmallMapControl());
map.addControl(new GMapTypeControl());
map.setCenter(new GLatLng(42.1795, -73.365), 13);
var point = new GLatLng(42.1795, -73.365);
map.addOverlay(new GMarker(point));

Then stick the following in your page (as an .inc file)

<div id="map" style="width: 600px; height: 480px; border:solid 1px;"></div>
