In Topic: Hit Counter reset?

Also, in addition to the excellent tip webfarm just posted (Hi, webfarm!), we are databasing the hit count in recent versions.

When you update to a recent build (anything released in the last six months), this process should happen:
1. Reads your hitcounter.txt
2. Stores value as global_hit_count in smt_userdata table (under System Tables in Database Tables feature).
3. Checks to make sure the transition went well
4. Deletes hitcounter.txt

So if your site is still relying on that text file, it may be time for a version update (or to make sure that the latest version is actually installed).

Note: This applies to Pro and Ultra.

@bianderson - That plugin may need to be modified to support the scrolling you're talking about. You might also try opening the sohoadmin window at fullscreen, which you should be able to do in the latest version (v4.9.4 r10).

With the new Google Analytics feature, Click Counter is kind of obsolete. Once you upgrade to v4.9.4 r4+ you will see the Google Tools feature on the main menu. Use that feature to connect your site with your (free) Google Analytics account, and you'll have more click counts and stats than you ever thought possible.

In Topic: How do I use Click Counter with linked images?

Hi Bi,

Click Counter won't work with the download links like the one in your example. It's only for regular page links.

But I can understand your need for it. It would be helpful to be able to track the number of times your podcast has been downloaded.

You could use Google Analytics (built-in to the latest version of Soholaunch) to accomplish this with event tracking. At the moment you'd have to manually add the code to the link, as you were about to do with Click Counter.

Your link code would look something like this:
<a target="_blank" href="http://www.rrbch.com/pgm-download_media.php?name=Podcast_Sermon_2012JUN10.mp3" onclick="_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Podcasts', 'Download', 'June2012 Sermon']);">click me</a>

Here's a link to a doc on Google Analytics event tracking:
https://developers.g...entTrackerGuide

We may make this event tracking automatic in future versions.

Can you still click and edit text areas and such? Somtimes browser plugins and toolbars can strip the JavaScript that enables dragging. Usually it's the editing that breaks before the dragging though.

If you can still edit your text areas, you can create a new a page and copy-paste everything over.

Also make sure you don't have any scripts or custom code in any of your text boxes (scrolly text widgets, etc). If custom code improperly placed in a text box broke the page, then your new page is just going to break when you re-copy the corrupt code (but at least you'll know what broke it).
