I am trying to change the template for one which has more changeable stuff.  I have very limited knowledge of tech-stuff, but as far as I can tell, I am doing the right things, but the new templates are not showing up on the list in template manager, or, occasionally, showing up but with error messages.

All the templates I have uploaded were .zip files from other websites, all done through the template upload tab of the template manager, but then vanished.  I know they are somewhere on my site, but have no idea where they might be.  Plus I am so basic in knowledge I really need them to be on the drop down menu on the select template part.

Any ideas?

You can only use soho templates or custom soho templates.

Ones from other sites will not work without changes made to them.

Here is the list of soho templates.

Thanks for this Dresswell,

However, on the Soholaunch blog, Jack Mathis says

"Soholaunch tries to make it easy for all levels of users to create a website, whether they are novices who are building a website for the first time, to all ranges of the more advanced users. If you know a little about html, you can easily integrate a custom template into the site builder and use it for your website"

and then also

"Those people who are more advanced with html code may decide to build a template from scratch, but that is not necessary. Many sites sell templates that are already coded out for you. You will want to stick with the html and css version of the template, as the flash version does not integrate well with Soholaunch. The html version comes in most packages offered at these sites, but you will want to check the specs just to make sure."

This seems to suggest to me that it is possible, or should be possible, to upload different templates onto my website - is that right?  If so, how can I do it?

The address for the blog is http://www.soholaunc...into Soholaunch

Once again, many thanks for any help

Well it is correct if you know html and css.

You can change any soholaunch template to what you want.

You can also use other templates by adding what soholaunch uses.

Here is a link to show you how to do it and what is required

in a soholaunch template.

Yes, that post supposes you know some html. I meant that it is possible if you add Soholaunch's special pound variables into the template. These are little snippets of code that tell Soholaunch where to add content, such as #CONTENT#. The wiki page about those is here:

http://wiki.soholaun...plate_Reference

And dresswell's link contains all of our template docs as well. If the template you upload doesn't have at least the #CONTENT# variable, it will show an error that says the template isn't formatted correctly.
