Give this a shot:
.hmains a:link { color: #008000; text-decoration: none; }
.hmains a:visited { color: #008000; text-decoration: none; }
.hmains a:hover { color: #ff012a; text-decoration: none; }
.hmains a:active { color: #ff012a; text-decoration: none; }

No difference ... The changes show on the custom.css .. I close the cpanel... I go to the site and the colours are still the original ....
It is a template I downloaded free from soho ... home4 extras blue ... is that an issue?

any assistance is appreciated

Just post the url of the page with this template. Also indicate the directory of custom.css which you did the change.

It does not appear that you changed the correct file. You should modify this one: sohoadmin/program/modules/site_templates/pages/HOME4-extras-blue/custom.css

It did not work
the home page is still the same colours - original template ... I am using .../public_html/sohoadmin/program/modules/site_templates/pages/HOME4-extras-blue
then I go in and change the lines shown below in custom.css and do a save and logout

a.hmains :link { color: #ffffff; text-decoration: none; }
a.hmains :visited { color: #ffffff; text-decoration: none; }
a.hmains :hover { color: #000000; text-decoration: none; }
a.hmains :active { color: #000000; text-decoration: none; }

when I go into the home page on the web and right click to look at page source code in custom.css it shows below which is still the original source code for home4.extras.blue

a.hmains:link { color: #A5D9FF; text-decoration: none; }
a.hmains:visited { color: #A5D9FF; text-decoration: none; }
a.hmains:hover { color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none; }
a.hmains:active { color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none; }

What am I missing ... can you log right in if I give you my password ?

Thanks again this is very frustrating ... John

That's because you left a space between "a.hmains" and ":" on all four lines.

It appears that the problem is in Firefox .. display the web site with IE it works the colours are correct when using FF it shows original code for the hmain params ...
Anyone else found this happening ...and a solution ?

I was chasing a ghost for many hours ...
