hi all,

I saw this thread on sohowiki help page:
http://wiki.soholaun...or_a_logo_image

I would wish swap the template header text for a logo image, however am not familiar with HTML. Does anyone know of a less technical website? or could some just "translate" it for me?

Cheers

The following steps outlined in the document you mentioned do not involve HTML knowledge per se:

1. Download the index.html file from your template folder
2. Find (ctrl+f) "#LOGO#"
3. Replace it with "#LOGOIMG#"
4. Save the file and upload it back to your template folder

All we are doing is simply replace a soho pound variable #LOGO# ( logo text) to another #LOGOIMG# (logo image) in the "index.html" file. Yes it is HTML code, but these steps do not call for any HTML skills.

hi lwyau,

thanks for your reply, ok i see that i could be pretty straightfoward but the stumbling block is literally the first step:
1. Download the index.html file from your template folder

The paragraph above it on the webiste is a how to, however this is the problem i cannot fully grasp it what is FTP and how do i access it?

ie: 1. Log-in via FTP to your website and navigate to this folder...

public_html/sohoadmin/program/modules/site_templates/pages/

thanks

FTP is a process with which you can transport files between your computer and the server where your website files reside. You can either Google "FTP" or log in your cpanel (not sohoadmin) and go through the tutorial/help in the FTP area.

Alternatively, you can edit files on the server directly via cpanel > file manager. There is tutorial/help there as well.

The correct directory for your template is public_html/sohoadmin/program/modules/site_templates/pages/templatename, templatename is the name of the template you use.

ok, I have done all the steps of the help page, however when I now view my website the custom template image is not appearing and my Logo image (which has just replaced the header) is missing.

Thank you for your help so far and any further help would be greatly appreciated

Why is the "custom template image" involved?

Have you gone in sohoadmin > template manager > settings to specify the logo image?

no, i literally followed the instructions to the letter.
I would not know how to change the template image and did not want to anyway.

You need to go in sohoadmin > template manager > settings to specify the logo image, otherwise, nothing is shown.

If you still have trouble, post your url so folks can take a look and hopefully figure out what went wrong.
